Incredible line-up for 2012 Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival

Incredible line-up for 2012 Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival

This year having the blues is sure to make you smile with Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival organisers just announcing the largest line-up in the event’s 11 year history.

Audiences will get the chance to see 56 acts performing at the four day festival 24-27 May 2012 with some big names in the mix.

The 2012 line-up will include artists such as Chris Jagger’s band ‘Atcha’ (Mick Jagger’s brother and a world class, industry acclaimed performer in his own right), Diesel, Jon Stevens, Luke Dickens, Little Wolf (USA), Nat Col & the kings, Phil Emmanuel and so many more.

All of the Blues on Broadbeach action will take place across 4 outdoor stages and a variety of venues including Jupiters Hotel and Casino and Oracle Boulevard.

An expected crowd of 80,000 people will stream into Broadbeach, with free, live entertainment scheduled throughout the streets and venues, for what is now recognised as a premier event in Queensland, and one of the largest free ‘blues’ music festivals in the world.

Festival attendees will once again have the opportunity to witness Australian favourite Jon Stevens, whose remarkable career has included fronting Noiseworks, INXS and performing in mega musicals like as Jesus Christ Superstar.

Australian favourite Diesel will also perform. Over his 25 year long journey Diesel has become a household name having released a string of gold and platinum albums, earning numerous ARIA Awards (including Best Male) Diesel has collected ten Top 10 albums with more than a dozen Top 20 singles.

Don’t miss guitarist Nathan Cavaleri who toured with Rock n Roll god; BB King, jammed with everyone from Michael Jackson to Diesel and has now joined forces with former screaming jets drummer; Col Hatchman to make up the dynamic duo Nat Col & the Kings.

The Phil Emmanuel Band will again take to the Blues on Broadbeach stage, as well as some of Australia's greatest musical talents coming together in a rare combination for Peter Hawkes & Phil Emmanuel, in a one show only appearance at the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival 2012.

Jan McCormick, CEO of Broadbeach Alliance and organiser of the Festival believes the 2012 festival will cement the precinct’s reputation for presenting world class events.

“The multi-award winning 10th Anniversary Festival last year was huge and we have been working hard this year to ensure we continue to deliver unique and exciting experiences for festivalgoers whilst also keeping the event free and accessible for everyone.”

Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter agrees that the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is a great boost for tourism during the winter period.

“The Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival is now one of the largest events on the Gold Coast, attracting more than 80,000 people annually and generating opportunities for business right across the city at a traditionally quiet time of year” said Mr Winter.

With the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival remaining a free event, you don’t even need to buy a ticket.

“We would just like you to mark the 24-27 of May 2012 in your diary to come into Broadbeach to experience why this event has been so successful for more than a decade” said Mrs McCormick.

After taking out the ‘Best Event and Festival’ category at the 2011 Queensland Tourism Awards the Blues on Broadbeach team will head to Cairns on Friday the 2nd of March where the event is a finalist in the same category at the Australian Tourism Awards.

This year’s festival line-up also includes numerous 2011 Chain Award winners, in fact most of the winners will be in Broadbeach performing for you this year.
