Murray and Martin features the unique vocal artistry of the talented young singer, Alice Murray combined with the accomplished classical/jazz guitar skills of Ian Martin.
The musical distinction of Murray and Martin is their ability to faithfully reproduce the spirit of the Jazz era (liberally interpreted as dating from the early 1920’s to the late 1950’s), that is the ‘Great American Songbook’, (the compositions of Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Heart etc.)
There technique is to identify specific artist’s recordings, for example Billy Holiday’s 1944 version of Lover Man’. Then create individually arrangement for the Voice and Guitar using as a benchmark the legendary jazz vocal and guitar duo recordings of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass.

To this end Murray and Martin do not use any backing tapes, pre-recorded electronic or automated aids. The only musical tools used are the same as those available to the Jazz Musicians of the 1940’s, an ‘archtop’ guitar and a microphone.

In addition to the ‘Jazz Standards Set’, Murray and Martin have built a ‘Modern Classics Set’ which provides an additional three hours of contemporary music, arranged with the same care and attention to detail.

As an intimate duo Murray and Martin perform at a large variety of private and public settings including; Corporate events, Private parties, Restaurants and Weddings etc. They are also proudly a part of the Volunteering Gold Coast Performance Troup.

John “Catfish “Purser was Johnny O’Keefe’s Drummer and Band Leader for many years. He has backed many American and Australian artists in Australia over the years. He also sings old and new songs from Yesterday and Today. The Band Quartette consists of: Ray White (Keyboard Player) a wonderful player and singer and has also backed many Australian Artists. He is well known on the” Gold Coast” and has written his own material. Bob Hely (Bass Player) is well known as a singer/ Base Player and he has also backed many Australian Artists and worked with well known Bands. Guitarist/ Vocals, Peter Brown M.D. for Izzy Dye who has also backed Australian Artists. Rhythm Guitarist/ Vocals, Rod Preston has worked in many Clubs in N.S.W. and Queensland.

Angel is a professional Face Painter and Children's Entertainer. Angel has 20 years experience in the business entertaining, painting and teaching Children. This Aussie Larrikins musical journey started long before his Professional debut with The Ten Tenors. Studying at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane paved the solid foundation for his love of music, opening him to the world of musical theatre. Appearing in such musicals as Le Miserables, South Pacific, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease and many more. This experience helped land him his childhood dream with The Ten Tenors.

Since returning back to Australia, Scott has embarked on a solo music career, performing to packed venues along the east coast of Australia. He is currently involved in a number of projects within the corporate arena appearing in such popular acts as ‘The Three Waiters’ and ‘Figaro’ and is spending his spare time in the recording studio with a goal to have his first solo album completed by 2011.

Glenn Shields has established himself as one of the most popular and versatile vocalists on the Gold Coast and South East Queensland. His repertoire is extremely varied. Changing his singing style for almost any occasion, Glenn sings songs from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, right up to the present, from opera to pop and jazz. The audience soon warms up to enjoy themselves as Glenn interacts with some humour and personality to punctuate the songs.
Glenn is originally from Manchester, U.K., and after arriving on the Gold Coast in 2004 scored various roles in several theatre productions including the lead role of Jean Valjean in ‘Les Miserables'.
Glenn soon became a regular on the club circuit working from Tweed Heads NSW to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, where his unique blend of humour and vocal versatility has always left a lasting impression and made many new fans.

The talent and versatility of Willy Qua placed him in a special category. Qua has enjoyed a distinguished career in jazz as both a sideman and leader in his own groups. He was a longtime resident player at the famous Basement Club in Sydney - a gig which saw him play with legendary musicians including Dave Brubeck, Earl Hines, Nina Simone, Herb Ellis and Barney Kessell. A true multi-instrumentalist, Qua is one of the few musicians who doubles on both reeds and percussion. Willy Qua’s performances should not be missed.

Born in the Philippines, raised in New Zealand, Kharen discovered a passion for dance at a very young age - in fact, she was born to dance!  

Kharen enjoyed dancing Hip Hop and R & B for many years until she was introduced to latin music and latin dancing twelve years ago and fell in-love!  She has since taught salsa and samba at beginners level and has also performed with latin dance groups in New Zealand such as Salsa Loca, Latin Fever and Con Calor.

With her experience in latin dancing combined with her love for latin music, Kharen decided to take her passion to another level and became a Certified Zumba Fitness Instructor and ZIN (Zumba Instructor Network) member.  Though only started her career as a Zumba Instructor, Kharen participated in several Zumba events prior to becoming a Zumba instructor such as the 4-Hour Zumbathon at the Dance Pro Studios in August 2010 and was awarded 2nd place.  She also worked with other Zumba Instructors by team teaching at the Zumba for Humanity for Ethiopia; organised her very own Party in Pink Zumbathon for Breast Cancer Awareness in October 2010 and So You Think You Can Zumba for 3 hours in 2011. 

In July 2011, Kharen moved to Australia to join her family and has continued with her passion for Zumba and is currently teaching on the Gold Coast.Kharen's energetic nature has inspired others to join the Zumba craze!
