I learned to play the mandolin in 2002 while I was working as an 'Emergency/ After hours' doctor in Ireland. My C.V. includes jamming with muso's while working for Cunard (QM2 and QE2) and Crystal cruise lines.(since 2004) I have played regularly at the Marritz restaurant in Perisher since 2005 and Belagos restaurant at Emerald lakes during 2008 and 2009. I would describe my music as 'French / Italian Cafe' music. I get a kick out of helping set an atmosphere to which folk can relax and enjoy themselves while dining.

Jon Whitten has classical vocal training and is a consummate guitarist, this combines to give a powerful and top quality performance that will be remembered. When your chosen musical path is that of a blues guitar player it's very easy to fall
into the trap of giving performances that serve as little more than jams for you to
blow your best licks over. Gold Coast based guitarist and singer Andrew Baxter,
however, not only recognizes this pitfall but wholly avoids it. Says Andrew “The
magic in any musical performance comes when the whole band comes together to
create something that is more than the sum of its parts. It gets even better when
the vibe of the audience adds to that, then it just takes off.”
Andrew’s new album “Middle Class Blues Singer” is a prime example of this
philosophy of music as a group performance. The music is classy and well
arranged. This gives the album’s overarching positive vibe much improved effect.
Themes running through the songs include self-reliance, positive thinking,
perseverance in the face of adversity and acceptance of the inevitability of growth
and change. A broad range of subjects that gives the album a real relevance to
most listeners.
Andrew has been a mainstay of the Gold Coast blues scene for over 10 years.
During that time Andrew has played with a who’s who of not only Gold Coast, but
also Australian and international blues artists. From his time as founding guitarist
and singer with Blind Lemon, to a spell as Mason Rack’s guitarist, Andrew has
played many of the most prestigious venues in the country including Sydney’s
Basement, Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel, Canberra’s National Press Club and
Brisbane’s legendary homes of the blues the Healer and the Roma Street Jazz and
Blues Bar. Andrew has performed with some of Australia’s blues icons including
Phil Emmanuel, Kevin Borich, the Bondi Cigars and Phil Manning as well as a
number of young up and coming artists including Mojo Webb, Mason Rack, Joe
Robinson and Juzzie Smith to name a few.
In 2007 and 2008 Andrew took a much needed rest from a relentless schedule of
gigging and touring. 2010 sees Andrew back with perhaps his tightest lineup yet
and a great selection of new original material on his debut solo album to take to
the stage.
Over 15 years of constant live performing have given Andrew a huge repertoire of
material from which to draw. This means that in performances Andrew is able to
follow the mood of a room and ensure that everyone at one of his shows has the
best time they possibly can.

One of the best clarinetists on the Coast, British born Lennie had classical music training in England and later backed such well known British entertainers as Dick Emery, Frankie Howerd, David Nixon, Tommy Cooper, Petula Clark and Val Doonican. Lennie started playing when he was 11, learning his skills from Jack Lewis, the father-in-law of legendary British singer Dame Vera Lynn. He was accepted for the prestigious Gildhall School of Music in London and went on to play in the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Lennie is a brilliant performer with an awe inspiring talent that must not be missed.

Brett Mooney and Samantha Mooney are “Scorpio”. True to their star sign, Brett and Samantha are passionate, determined and talented. Their musical partnership was formed in 1993 and simply keeps getting better.

Byron Bay KidzKlub are the Children’s Entertainment specialists and they are in the Broadbeach Mall under the Sails Stage area every second Sunday from 11am till 1.30pm. They will be providing various craft activities and fun active games to entertain the Kidz. Come along and enjoy the fun fun fun. Note – this is not a babysitting service.

Murray and Martin features the unique vocal artistry of the talented young singer, Alice Murray combined with the accomplished classical/jazz guitar skills of Ian Martin.
The musical distinction of Murray and Martin is their ability to faithfully reproduce the spirit of the Jazz era (liberally interpreted as dating from the early 1920’s to the late 1950’s), that is the ‘Great American Songbook’, (the compositions of Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Heart etc.)
There technique is to identify specific artist’s recordings, for example Billy Holiday’s 1944 version of Lover Man’. Then create individually arrangement for the Voice and Guitar using as a benchmark the legendary jazz vocal and guitar duo recordings of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass.

To this end Murray and Martin do not use any backing tapes, pre-recorded electronic or automated aids. The only musical tools used are the same as those available to the Jazz Musicians of the 1940’s, an ‘archtop’ guitar and a microphone.

In addition to the ‘Jazz Standards Set’, Murray and Martin have built a ‘Modern Classics Set’ which provides an additional three hours of contemporary music, arranged with the same care and attention to detail.

As an intimate duo Murray and Martin perform at a large variety of private and public settings including; Corporate events, Private parties, Restaurants and Weddings etc. They are also proudly a part of the Volunteering Gold Coast Performance Troup.

Glenn Shields has established himself as one of the most popular and versatile vocalists on the Gold Coast and South East Queensland. His repertoire is extremely varied. Changing his singing style for almost any occasion, Glenn sings songs from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, right up to the present, from opera to pop and jazz. His name is Nick Waters and he’s a singer / songwriter. He plays acoustic guitar, a stomp box with his right foot, and a tambourine with his left foot… and he does it with a hell of a lot of passion! Nick’s original songs at times have a political and environmental bent, but then others are just stories of life and love. Paladino Productions which is an affiliation of Paladino Dance Music Drama participate in performance tours. Paladino's toured Queensland in 2004 performing at Seaworld, Dreamworld and Cavill Mall. Due to the success of their tour they were invited to come back again and perform their fantastic song and dance shows at Dreamworld, White water world, Cavill Mall and Broadbeach Mall. In the 2006 they toured to America performing in Orlando Florida, Universal Studios, Disneyworld and Downtown Disney.
This years cast consist of 44 performers aged between 5 and 21 years, after a huge audition process which saw over 100 students audition.

Glenn Shields has established himself as one of the most popular and versatile vocalists on the Gold Coast and South East Queensland. His repertoire is extremely varied. Changing his singing style for almost any occasion, Glenn sings songs from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, right up to the present, from opera to pop and jazz. The audience soon warms up to enjoy themselves as Glenn interacts with some humour and personality to punctuate the songs.
Glenn is originally from Manchester, U.K., and after arriving on the Gold Coast in 2004 scored various roles in several theatre productions including the lead role of Jean Valjean in ‘Les Miserables'.
Glenn soon became a regular on the club circuit working from Tweed Heads NSW to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, where his unique blend of humour and vocal versatility has always left a lasting impression and made many new fans.

The talent and versatility of Willy Qua placed him in a special category. Qua has enjoyed a distinguished career in jazz as both a sideman and leader in his own groups. He was a longtime resident player at the famous Basement Club in Sydney – a gig which saw him play with legendary musicians including Dave Brubeck, Earl Hines, Nina Simone, Herb Ellis and Barney Kessell. A true multi-instrumentalist, Qua is one of the few musicians who doubles on both reeds and percussion. Willy Qua’s performances should not be missed.

Byron Bay KidzKlub are the Children’s Entertainment specialists and they are in the Broadbeach Mall under the Sails Stage area every second Sunday from 11am till 1.30pm.
