Security the priority in Broadbeach

Broadbeach Stakeholders have being working very hard ensuring security in the popular precinct is top notch.

Broadbeach Alliance in association with the QPS, Liquor Licensing and Local Law hold regular security meetings with stakeholders in Broadbeach to ensure everyone is on the same page and this has resulted in some exciting new initiatives.

The majority of Broadbeach stakeholders including but not limited to EAST, Platinum, Onyx, 1 Two 3 Mediterranean and Satin have all implemented plastic and or shatter proof glass after a certain time and have also hired security to additional ensure RSA.

Conrad Jupiters is also putting patron safety first receiving the first shipment of Byron Bay Beer company product in the brand new PET (Plastic) bottles designed by Visy. This beer will be the first in Queensland to be sold in PET bottles.
It is pleasing to note that the Broadbeach business initiatives have resulted in positive comments from Minister for Tourism and Fair Trading Peter Lawlor MP.

“While the Bligh Government has taken firm action to ensure those venues with a history of glassing and other violence are compelled to move to alternatives to regular glass, I am heartened by the proactive actions of businesses and groups such as your alliance in voluntarily introducing initiatives such as this to minimize harm arising from the misuse and abuse of alcohol.” Peter Lawlor MP

Broadbeach Alliance CEO Jan McCormick is proud of the work Broadbeach as a whole has been doing to increase safety and security in the precinct.

“Broadbeach Alliance together with our stakeholders have collaborated to ensure that Broadbeach maintains its level of safety and security and over the past twelve months have implemented ID scanning into clubs, increased security at restaurants and bars ensuring RSA and further all late night clubs and bars have introduced either plastic drink ware or shatter proof glassware. There has also been an increase in QPS activity and additional camera’s added to the network.”

“All of these initiatives are a result of proactive commitment by our stakeholders to our Collaborative Approach to Liquor Management and demonstrates that the precinct is a safe entertainment precinct, which has a strong sense of ownership by all the stakeholders.”

With bookings in Broadbeach accommodation houses looking extremely promising for the upcoming holiday season and the annual Broadbeach Christmas Carols to be held in Kurrawa Park on December 19 locals and visitors can feel safe celebrating the festive season in Broadbeach.
