Broadbeach invites you to join us with fun and entertaining talent around the precinct for Busking in Broadbeach. So if you’re looking to be a part of the buzzing entertainment scene, now is your opportunity to showcase your talents.  Every talented busker including musicians, magicians and dancers have the opportunity to be seen.

Recognised as the dining and entertainment mecca on the Gold Coast, Broadbeach also hosts some of the biggest events.

The precinct already boasts a number of amazing free annual festivals, including the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival, Groundwater Country Music Festival as well as Gold Coast Superhero Weekend and Broadbeach Christmas Carols.

APPLYING FOR A BUSKING PERMIT

The busking process is as follows:

  1. Complete the online application form and email to Broadbeach Alliance on bal@broadbeachgc.com by Thursday 1st February 2018.
  2.  Auditions will be held in Kurrawa Park, Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach on Thursday 15th February 2018 from 3pm – 5pm.
  3. Successful applicants will be notified by email the day after their audition and advised of payment process and collection details.
  4. All buskers must comply with the busking guidelines. Please read the guidelines carefully BEFORE applying.

Auditions will be limited to 3 minutes.  Please ensure your auditions includes the key elements of your act. Please note that these auditions may not proceed, due to restrictions by the Commonwealth Games.

Please note Broadbeach Alliance continues to accept applications for the next period of busking even when applications have closed for the current three month time frame.

What are the designated busking locations?

Buskers are able to perform in designated spots throughout the precinct. Spots are then allocated once the permit is received.  In addition, each spot is suitable to a different style of busking, depending on size requirements. Buskers can also occupy a site for one hour and forty five minutes at a time.

Do I have to audition?

It is necessary that you audition for a permit to ensure that your performance passes all risk analysis and does not cause any nuisance to locals, tourists and businesses. Therefore you only need to audition once a year. Or if the act has changed. The next round of auditions will be held February 2018.

Can I sell CDs or merchandise?

No, you can’t sell any CDs, merchandise or articles as part of your performance. Nor can your performance ‘demand’ or ‘ask’ for money from spectators. Therefore contributions are a donation for the performance.

What is the cost for a busking permit?

Council issues permits over a three month period. The three month permit is $93.

What are the busking periods?

September to November, December to February, March to May and June to August.
